Prof. Wolfgang Kießling among the top 50 of the most-cited scientists worldwide in the field of palaeontology

We warmly congratulate Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kießling on his outstanding achievement in the Ranking of the Stanford List 2025 in the research in the field of palaeontology. The publication data used for the study is based on a data extract from Scopus in August 2025 and refers to the citation year 2024. According to the latest edition, a total of 236 researchers from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) are among the world’s top two percent of most-cited scientists. Eight FAU researchers are ranked among the top 50 in their field, including Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kießling (# 45) from the GeoZentrum Nordbayern (Chair of Palaeontology). This year’s ranking of the Stanford takes into account a total of 236,313 researchers.
