Enrollment in a degree program without admission restrictions
The Bachelor’s degree program in Geosciences has no admission restrictions.
Enrollment for first-year students as well as for students entering a higher semester consists of two steps:
- Online application and online enrollment via the campo portal
- Official enrollment for the upcoming winter semester: see “Enrollment without admission restrictions” (date of postal receipt applies); the postal address of .the Student Records Office can be found on the enrollment application form
All lectures in the Bachelor’s degree programs are held in German. International full-time students must provide proof of sufficient proficiency in German (see German language requirements for studying).

The Student Advice Center (FAU) is often the first port of call for prospective and current students who have any questions about studying. They provide confidential, neutral and unbiased advice and can point you in the direction of someone who is.
Here you can find general FAU information on applications, admissions, and enrollment.
Master’s programs
The Master’s degree programs in Geosciences at FAU always begin in the winter semester. The application deadline for the winter semester is usually in mid-July. Detailed information can be found on the pages of the different Master’s degree programs of our institute: Master’s at the GeoZentrum.

Further information
For our ERASMUS+ exchange students: The ERASMUS+ coordinator at the Department of Geoscience is Prof. Dr. Daniel Koehn. First contact our internal coordinator Prof. Dr. Daniel Koehn, if you are interested in an ERASMUS+ exchange. Applications should be submitted by January 20 each year. Detailed information is available here: Study abroad.
Information for students already enrolled at FAU
Students who are already enrolled at FAU and wish to change their degree program should use the Application for Changing to a Non-Restricted Program for FAU Students and submit the completed form to the Student Records Office.
After a successful application via campo and payment of the semester fee, enrollment takes place within the designated deadlines. It is important to submit all required documents with your application.
For Geosciences, enrollment must be completed by postal mail.
Processing of postal applications can take 2 to 3 weeks. If documents are incomplete, this processing time will be extended. If documents are submitted near the end of the deadline, it cannot be guaranteed that study materials will be sent before the semester begins. The same applies if payment has not been received.
Activation of user account
After all documents and payments have been received, you will receive an information letter by post on how to activate access to electronic services. The information letter can also be viewed online in campo.
FAU-Card
The FAU-Card serves as the student ID for enrolled students. It must be validated each semester. The card is automatically sent by post once the personal user account has been activated.
Enrollment certificate
After enrollment is completed and the user account is activated, the enrollment certificate can be accessed in campo.
