Structural Geology and Tectonics

The working group Structural Geology and Tectonics (StrucTec@GZN) studies the deformation of rock and tectonic plates of our Earth. Important topics of our research is the evolution of deposits and storage of resources (e.g. ore deposits, water), the stability and hydraulic conductivity of faults (e.g. geothermal energy, earthquakes), and the dynamics of fracture formation (e.g. hydrofractures, soft sediments).
StrucTec@GZN uses and develops analytical methods, numerical simulation, and analogue experiments. Our group works in field sites all around the globe.
