Field trip to Gotland: Tropical rocks and fossils from the Silurian period
As part of its regular courses, the GeoZentrum Nordbayern in Erlangen conducts a two-week field exercise on Gotland (Sweden) every two years. This year, master's students in palaeontology once again spent two weeks on the island learning how to measure geological sections on various scales and using different techniques, as well as how to extract information about sedimentary environments from rocks and fossils.As part of its regular courses, the GeoZentrum Nordbayern in Erlangen conducts a two-week field exercise on Gotland (Sweden) every two years. World Groundwater Congress 2025 – Award for Dr. Xinyang Fan
The Working "Group Modelling of Environmental Systems" (Prof. Gabriele Chiogna) attended the 52th World Groundwater Congress 2025 in Melbourne, Australia. We warmly congratulate Dr. Xinyang Fan, who received together with M.Sc. Nane Weber (TU Dresden) this year the Best Poster Presentation Award from the IAH.

“Mädchen und Technik Praktikum”: Experience science
38 Schülerinnen konnten beim „Mädchen und Technik 2025“-Praktikum an der Technischen Fakultät Wissenschaft und Technik hautnah erleben. An verschiedenen Experimentierstationen und in Gesprächen mit Wissenschaftlerinnen bekamen die Teilnehmerinnen spannende Einblicke in aktuelle Forschung und verschiedenste Berufsfelder. Auch das GeoZentrum Nordbayern beteiligte sich wieder an dem bunten Programm. 38 Schülerinnen konnten beim „Mädchen und Technik 2025“-Praktikum an der Technischen Fakultät Wissenschaft und Technik hautnah erleben. An verschiedenen Experimentierstationen und in Gesprächen mit Wissenschaftlerinnen bekamen die Teilnehmerinnen spannende Einblicke in aktuelle Forschung und verschiedenste Berufsfelder. Auch das GeoZentrum Nordbayern beteiligte sich wieder an dem bunten Programm.
