Laboratories

The laboratory for light stable isotopes of the hydrogeology group is specialized in measurements of the liquid phase. It is equipped for measurements of stable isotope ratios of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and particulate organic carbon (POC), and oxygen and hydrogen of water. A modified Gasbench system allows for the measurement of the oxygen isotope ratio of the dissolved oxygen (O2, DO) in water. Additionally, carbon and oxygen isotope analysis of organic material can be carried out. Routine analyses in major ions and trace elements as well as field sampling are also performed.

Picarro L2140-i – water isotope analyzer for δ18O, δ17O and dD

The Picarro L2140-i is a laser spectroscope designed to determine water isotopes. It can measure δ18O and δD simultaneously. Additionally, the Picarro L2140-i can determine δ17O excess. It is a laser spectroscope designed for determining water isotopes. It allows the simultaneous measurement of δ18O and dD. It can also determine δ17O excess.

Picarro G2201-i Isotopen- and Gaskonzentrationsanalyzer for stable isotope and isotope measurements of CO2 and CH4

The Picarro G2201-i laser spectroscope is used to determine the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and methane in gas samples, as well as the δ13C value of carbon isotopes. CO2 and methane are both measured simultaneously.

Portable Li-Cor Li-7825 Trace Gas Analyzer for CO2, concentration and isotopes and NH3 concentration measurements

The Li-Cor Li-7825 is a portable, battery-powered, suitcase-sized laser spectroscope used to determine the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO₂) in the air and its carbon isotope ratio (δ13C). It can also perform quantitative analysis of NH₃. Offering a high degree of flexibility, the Li-Cor Li-7825 can be used both in the field and in anthropogenic areas.
