Research Focus:

I am primarily interested in the effects and origins of magmatism on Earth, both in the present and in the distant past. I work from both the planet-scale on themes such as the formation of Earth’s crust and lithospheric mantle and global elemental cycling, down to local-scale investigations of the magma plumbing systems of volcanoes.

Current Projects:

  • Exploring Icelandic volcanic history through tephrachrology of deep-sea sediments
  • Geochemistry and petrology of recent volcanism along the Reykjanes Peninsula
  • Geochemical provincialism of magmas on the East African Rift
  • Stable isotope geochemistry of the Earth’s mantle as viewed through hot spot lavas and mantle xenoliths
