On October 29, 2025, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kießling will give a lecture at the Nuremberg Planetarium titled “Between heat and hope: Species conservation in the age of climate change.” The event is part of the lecture series “Species conservation in the Anthropocene: Strategies for a Livable Future.”

As part of its regular courses, the GeoZentrum Nordbayern in Erlangen conducts a two-week field exercise on Gotland (Sweden) every two years. This year, master's students in palaeontology once again spent two weeks on the island learning how to measure geological sections on various scales and using different techniques, as well as how to extract information about sedimentary environments from rocks and fossils. From September 28 to October 12, the annual ARTEMIS field trip to Northern Greece, funded by the EU as part of the ERASMUS+ program, took place, with students from Nancy, Thessaloniki, Athens, Budapest, Bratislava, and Erlangen participating this year. Please read more...

On 29 September 2025, the survey period for the SIGIS study on work and organisational culture started. The scientific staff from the Faculties of Engineering, Natural Sciences, and Medicine are cordially invited to participate in the study. The survey is being conducted as part of the SIGIS study on gender inequalities in organizational and working conditions at several universities in Germany.

The Working "Group Modelling of Environmental Systems" (Prof. Gabriele Chiogna) attended the 52th World Groundwater Congress 2025 in Melbourne, Australia. We warmly congratulate Dr. Xinyang Fan, who received together with M.Sc. Nane Weber (TU Dresden) this year the Best Poster Presentation Award from the IAH.
