An innovative format of the Hydrorally - with active participation of our students

The Hydrorally 2026 (March 2–13, 2026) began with a course on stable isotopes, organized in collaboration with the Hydrogeology Section of the German Geological Society – Geological Association (FH-DGGV) and the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH). Following this, the group traveled to Bonn and its surrounding areas to conduct a series of field studies. In cooperation with the research group of Prof. Mohammad Muniruzzaman (University of Bonn), this year’s program included a presentation of the Rivercast project in collaboration with the Erftverband, a visit to the historic Stahlberg visitor mine, and a tour of the laboratory of Prof. Rolle in Darmstadt.

During the second week, students contributed to the annual FH-DGGV conference in Leipzig, titled “Groundwater and Water Security in Transition,” which hosted more than 500 participants. This unconventional format of the course provided valuable insights into the latest developments in the field. Students from the GeoZentrum made an excellent impression and actively contributed to the success of the conference.
