From September 28 to October 12, the annual ARTEMIS field trip to Northern Greece, funded by the EU as part of the ERASMUS+ program, took place, with students from Nancy, Thessaloniki, Athens, Budapest, Bratislava, and Erlangen participating this year.

The field trip began with a three-day introduction at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with lectures on regional geology, the use of portable analytical devices (pXRF, pLIBS, pRaman, pVNIR-SWIR) in the field, and a geological-archaeological city tour of Thessaloniki.

After a few stops in Kavala, Stratoni, and the mineralogical museum in Vrasna, the camp was set up near Alexandroupolis for the next seven days. From there, the group traveled every day to geologically interesting sites in the region of Thrace, including the Thracean Mining core repository in Perama Hill. Over the course of the two weeks, the students gained informative insights into the magmatic, tectonic, and deposit-forming processes of the region and were able to deepen their knowledge of practical mineral exploration.
