Invitation for applications for a full Professor of Applied Mineralogy (salary group W3)

The Faculty of Sciences at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for a
at the Department of Geography and Geosciences. This is a full-time and permanent position planned to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching. The successful candidate is expected to represent the field of mineralogy in research and teaching. The research focus should be in the field of natural and synthetic minerals regarding sustainable geomaterials, for example in the development of construction materials or the storage of carbon and hydrogen. Innovative skills in the field of analytical and experimental mineralogy (such as microstructure, phase analysis, spectroscopy etc.) are desirable, and may, for instance, be combined with interface research and microstructures. A willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research (e.g., applied geology, geodynamics, geothermal energy, geography) and active participation in collaborative projects is expected.
