That’s why studying at the GeoZentrum Nordbayern is worthwhile!
What sets our study programmes apart!
Seminars, exercises and lectures in small groups enable intensive supervision of students – especially during field exercises or in the laboratory. In addition, there are a wide range of research and industry projects in which students can participate.
A large selection of fields of study and a wide variety of elective modules offer the opportunity to tailor your studies to your individual interests.

Independent laboratory and research work
At the GeoZentrum, you have the opportunity to carry out independent research work in the laboratory or in the field. This work is embedded in larger research projects and, due to the small group sizes, is supervised intensively and individually. In addition, paid jobs are available each semester as part of student assistant activities.
A wide variety of internship and international experiences
Semesters abroad are possible in all of our degree programmes (e.g. also with Erasmus programmes). The Bachelor’s degree programme in GeoSustainability offers its own mobility semester, which you can spend at a university abroad.
In our Master’s programme in Geosciences, you can count internships that you complete at companies, museums or research institutions, for example, as part of your coursework, allowing you to gain practical experience while still studying.

Practical field work in Germany and abroad
Fieldwork is an important part of our practical training. At GeoZentrum Nordbayern, we offer a wide range of intensively supervised field modules. Regular field exercises take students to locations such as the Nördlinger Ries crater, the Southern Alps, Gotland, Elba and Scotland.
